Latest leaked updates on the internet reveal that the next-generation Toyota Fortuner will try to offer a much more engaging driving experience, thanks to the addition of paddle-shifts on automatic variants.
Powering the new Fortuner would be new & efficient GD series engines which include two power units (to be used on the new Innova & Fortuner):
  • 2.4L, 2GD-FTV, turbocharged diesel motor producing 148 BHP of power & 400 Nm of torque
  • 2.8L, 1GD-FTV, turbocharged diesel motor producing 175 BHP of power & 450 Nm of torque
The new Fortuner could be offered in 5 variants:
  • 2.4G 4×2 6-speed MT
  • 2.4V 4×2 6-speed AT
  • 2.8v 4×2 6-speed AT
  • 2.8V 4×4 6-speed MT

The new Fortuner will use Toyota’s latest FIRM technology (Frame with Integrated Rigidity Mechanism). The length of the new models has been increased by 9cm as the impact structure has been improvised for better crash protection. The new platform which is usually lighter than the predecessor for almost every brand, in this case, is actually heavier than the older one.
