Force Motors opens plant for BMW engine assembly

Force Motors has inaugurated its new facility in Chennai which will assemble 4-cylinder & 6-cylinder engines for BMW India.
This facility has seen investments in tune of Rs. 200 crore and was worked upon since June 2014. The facility has been made operational in a record 7 months.
Interestingly, this facility by Force Motors is the only one outside of Germany for BMW to manufacture engines & transmissions.
The engines locally assembled here will be used on the 1-Series, 3-Series, 5-Series, 7-Series, X1, X3 & X5.
This facility can produce up to 20,000 engines annually & can expand capacity if need be.
And hey, it’s fully air-conditioned to keep the employees happy.
BMW has increased localised content on their vehicles up to 50%.
