Suzuki Gixxer 250 to be developed in Japan

Suzuki has already revealed that they will focus on the premium motorcycle space in India for now, and will be interested in launching higher capacity versions of the popular Gixxer.
Now, we have learnt that Suzuki has already started working on the Gixxer 250 for the Indian market. However, R&D & full development will be carried out in Japan, and not here in India. Expect test bikes to be spotted here in India only a couple of months ahead of its official debut.
The new 250cc motor is being developed in collaboration with Japanese engineers & the bike is rumoured to pump out almost 30 PS of power. Engine is expected to be a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor to keep costs under check.
Design wise, the new engine is expected to be plonked in the same Gixxer & Gixxer SF models with mild re-styling for differentiation. Also, tyres & other such components will be upgraded as per segment standards.
The bike will however continue to have an upright & comfortable riding position. It won’t get sporty like the KTM RC390 or the likes. The bike will also feature rear disc brakes & ABS.
Expect the Gixxer 250 to be revealed at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo.
Pricing expected around Rs. 1.5 lakh
