Suzuki working on a semi-automatic hybrid superbike

Suzuki has filed a patent which reveals that the Japanese manufacturer is working on a 4-cylinder hybrid superbike matched to a semi-automatic gearbox.
The patent images filed reveal that the new model would sport an in-line, 4-cylinder engine layout coupled with an electric motor which will together power the rear wheels of the bike via a semi-automatic gearbox. The inverter & battery is placed under the seat.
When used on petrol, the electric motor keeps spinning to maintain a healthy charge level for use when switched to hybrid mode.
The bike gets a TCU (Transmission Control Unit) for the semi-automatic gearbox which allows you to shift manually, but without a clutch. The TCU also manages the throttle input according to the gears.
The bike will also get riding modes such as pure electric, electric assist, power generation, etc.
Considering India is a hot market for superbikes & will remain so in the coming years, we could see this hi-tech motorcycle in India as well. However, there’s still some time for that to happen.
