Peugeot 208 imported for R&D in India

Two units of the latest Peugeot 208 hatchbacks have been imported to India for R&D purpose.
Peugeot has been repeatedly trying to enter the Indian market, but hasn’t really made a breakthrough yet. Now, with this development, does the manufacturer have a plan ready? Time will tell…
Back in 2011-12, Peugeot was testing the 208 hatch & 508 sedan in India. We even were a part of the testing process where we drove both the cars & gave feedback. But nothing really happened after that.
The model imported to India is the Active Pure Tech variant powered by a 1.2L, VTI petrol motor producing 82 BHP matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
However, this could also be a private import by other Indian manufacturers for benchmarking future products.
If launched, would you buy the Peugeot 208?
